Each of us is ultimately responsible for our own actions. Although in today's business world, I imagine many skeptics would take exception to this statement, there are indications that people not be held accountable for their actions, even if they are immoral. And, more disturbingly, some are even rewarded for wrongdoing. Each of us makes the choice to act to act ethically or unethically.
It is important that we know what is ethical and what is unethical. But moreknow very challenging and difficult than what is ethical, is knowing what is right and then do the right thing. Always do the right thing necessary for the long-term success in business and personal life. So, what advice and guidance are available to verify whether the action shortly before the implementation of a decision to act? + Is the idea or action congruent with your core values and principles of your business and personal life?
+ Is the idea or action legal?
+ Will the idea or action fair to all concerned?
+ Will the idea orAction pass the Golden Rule test (Do Unto Others) test?
+ Is the idea or business stand up to critical scrutiny by the public when brought into the open?
+ Will the benefits of the idea or action on the cost?
+ Is the idea or action not with your company or organization, rules and regulations?
+ Will you feel comfortable and not feel guilty if you follow through the idea right?
+ Is the idea or action meet stated goals andGoals?
+ If the person who I think know the ethics of the idea or action?
These are very practical and useful test questions, your ideas and actions. You can develop these and other questions in the list. If you use these questions to test your ideas and actions and to remember that acting ethically is a requirement of all the things you do, you will greatly increase your potential ethical and very successful.
