Brazilian Law-Bunko! No Ethics Here
A young man from Siemens in Brazil is a transfer from Siemens in Virginia in December 2005. I was talking to him, and he was full of hope. He should. There is plenty of opportunity to get a loan and in the U.S. has a very low, low rate.
In Brazil, there is a stark difference. Home loans are a whopping 120% annually! Take this sentence and guess on the U.S. economy and what will happen. (In addition to the cries of Usary! Usary!) The economy slowed. That's what. TheU.S. economy would crawl into a screaching.
In addition, residents do not protect, not Brazilian law. Take my case for example. I signed a 3-year lease with the owner of a small apartment building in 2003. Shortly after I signed the contract, he sold the building to another man.
I asked the man, "Do you have our contract?" "No," he said.
"What happened to it?" I asked. "Sumiu," was his reply. Which means that he does not know of his whereabouts. Someone was lying. Butwho?
You can imagine the confusion and feelings that I was hurt. Not good. We were in serious trouble. He was a reconstruction of the entire building and he did not want us in the apartment. Despite all this we have to pay more, and he took the money gladly. That is our mission was. Right? Not so in this country. Your word means nothing here.
Then in December 2005 we received an eviction notice for 'non-payment. The new owner lied to a judge who signedreserved. After the announcement, we had 30 days to leave. And we could not defend, because the lie of "non-payment" is considered a "major mistake" by the Brazilian law. Say, in other words, this is just a euphanism: "We know we'er lying, but we can not right the picture or something, so we'll call it a clerical error." We have no alternative but to leave. Go figure. We are returning to the U.S., that's for sure.
No longer in Brazilian law!
Brazil wants a worldLeading proponent of human rights and political neutrality? I say, and I am sure that many Brazilians would agree with me, clean up yor own first house, Brazil. It is not even close to being ready to take center on the world stage. You have probably never.
